P22 - online generated music with printable score

This free online music utility can be found  HERE . It is extremely simple to operate and worth exploring .... Just a few points you should remember.

  1. Type or copy any text into the Text Field at the righthand side of the page
  2. Give the File a unique name (only names acceptable are: A, B, C, .... Z, a, b, c, .... z)
  3. Set the Beats Per Minute (from 10 for short texts to 1000 for long texts - a common value is 120)
  4. Select your instrument (a wide variety is available, depending on the wavetable in your computer)
  5. Click on "Generate your music" (the score of your composition will be displayed and it starts to play)
  6. You may save your composition as a midi file (A.mid etc) and print your sheet music for live instrument performances

Not every text fed into this generator will create interesting music. The developer said: "Texts where phrases are repeated often, provide recurring musical phrasing that is (can be) truly astounding".

otomata - online generated exciting music

This free online music utility can be found  HERE . It is extremely simple to operate and worth exploring .... Just a few points you should remember.

  1. Each click in the square frame adds another Cell
  2. Clicking "clear" removes all Cells
  3. Set the Tempo (standard value = 150 beats per minute, which is quite fast)
  4. Set the scale (a wide variety is available, with the most exotic names - I counted 40 variants)
  5. Push "start" to set the music running
  6. Once the music is running, you can record it by pushing "record". A wave-file (recording.wav) will be generated. This quickly grows in size, roughly 3.5 MB for 20 seconds

Not every combination of Cells in the frame will create interesting music. And of course, scale and speed greatly influence the result.

tune toys - muse-o-matic - online generated no less exciting music

This free online music utility can be found  HERE . Really very simple to operate and still worth exploring .... Just a few points you should remember. You type the word you want, or copy-paste it, in the textfield. Two styles are available (A=harmonious and B=more atonal). Simple? Yes, but effective. Try for instance "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". You remember "Mary Poppins" and Julie Andrews? The generated midi-file can be played by left-clicking the pianoroll-box; it can be saved (www.mid) by right-clicking the same box.

Other interesting tune toys to play with are Webtones, Expresso and Fresh Roast. Try them for yourself ....
